Woodwork Roadshow
Woodwork Roadshow arrived on the Wilmington, NC music scene in the Fall of 2005 and immediately became a local favorite among performers and listeners alike with a clever presentation of traditional and progressive acoustic music. The Roadshow often delivered a performance that deviated from their previous by adding drums and fiddle or lap-steel and keys but throughout their tenure in Wilmington, though they found some success, they were not satisfied with bar gigs and the occasional opening spot for larger national touring acts and so they disbanded. Each member (John Satterfield on guitar and vocals, Harris Gardner on mandolin and backing vocals, and Jones Smith on upright bass) went their separate ways to explore other avenues of music, life, institutional learning, and the occasional fishing trip on the inter coastal. After two years of separation and moderate success individually, talks commenced of the possibility for a reinvigorated and more focused shot at showing people what Woodwork Roadshow truly had to offer the world.
In October of 2007, John was recording the demos for what was originally to be a solo record that he was thinking of doing and life-long friend and schoolmate, Harris, listened and creatively contributed to the demos thus reshaping the musical ideas to a new and more complete batch of work. The obvious selection for a bass player was Jones Smith, thereby completing the original trio. And so in June of 2008, the boys of Woodwork Roadshow have just completed what they truly feel is their first album at Exocet Studios in Atlanta, though technically it is their second. They are approaching this new opportunity as a brand new band filled with all the originality and vigor that they have longed for their whole lives. The new sound is a far more aggressive and honest approach to their American music roots including but not limited to bluegrass, punk, folk, rock, jazz and beyond and their ability to perform live has improved immensely over the years into a tightly knit factory of visual and audible splendor. Woodwork Roadshow's new album, “In Bricks, In Bones”, was produced by industry veteran, David Rolfe. “In Bricks, In Bones” is certain to please anxiously awaiting fans as well as those who have yet to experience this innovative band and features an A-List group of session men including David Blackmon of Widespread Panic and Jerry Reed on fiddle, Scott Baston on guest vocals, and Frank Registrato of the News Architects on drums.
